Day of the Dead
The Day of the Dead (El Día de los Muertos) is a popular Latin American holiday that celebrates family reunions and the return of deceased relatives' souls. These reunions include drinks, food, and celebrations among people of Latino heritage worldwide. People celebrate the holiday from October 31st to November 2nd. It starts with All Saints Day, November 1st, and continues with All Souls Day and Day of the Dead. The Roman Catholic Church observes this day to remember the souls of those who are in Purgatory. Purgatory is a place where people who are still considered members of the church go after they die to atone for their sins before they go to Heaven.

All Saints Day November 1st
All Saints’ Day is a religious observance by Roman Catholics and other Christian Denominations. It is considered a Holy Day in the Catholic Church, where people attend Mass to honor all saints who have attained Heaven. This is not a Holy Day of Obligation this year.
All Souls Day, November 2nd
Although they share the same day, All Souls Day and Day of the Dead aren’t 100% the same. All Souls Day is a day of remembrance and prayer for the faithful departed. The Roman Catholic Church observes it to remember souls in Purgatory.

Epiphany Catholic Church invites everyone in the parish to share their ofrendas (offerings, ie, photos), which we will display, honoring your deceased loved ones:
We invite you to bring a picture of your deceased loved one to the table in the Narthex beginning October 1st and continuing through the end of October. We will have the display up for November.
Please write your name and phone number on the back of the picture. We will also have a Prayer Memory Book in front of Mary for everyone to write their requested prayers.
