Epiphany’s New Director of Liturgy and Worship
Chip Chipman: Epiphany’s New Director of Liturgy and Worship
I grew up in South Bend, IN and have a bachelor of science in psychology and sociology from Indiana University. I worked with the St Vincent DePaul Society for about 2 years after graduation and then entered the religious and seminary life. God, however, had other plans and has put hospital chaplaincy in my path.
I have worked in hospitals across the States from Los Angeles to most recently in Gettysburg, PA. It has been a privilege to be with and pray at the bedside of people with faith as well as with the ‘nones’ because I believe that no one should die alone. As chapter 6 of Pastoral Care of the Sick states, “Christians have the responsibility of expressing their union in Christ by joining the dying person in prayer for God’s mercy and for confidence in Christ…members of the community should be prepared to assist with these prayers…”
In the future, I hope to complete a terminal degree in psychology and moral theology to better serve in both the hospital and the parish.
