The Hermes Family

Luke and I (Katie) grew up in the Bloomington-Normal area and I attended Epiphany from Kindergarten through 8th grade. However, to say we always intended to send our children to Epiphany would be incorrect. After college we lived in Springfield for three years, and upon moving back became parishioners at another parish in town. We had our first two children, Gabe and Dominic, and started thinking more about what we wanted for our family in terms of a school and parish experience.

A friend recommended we look at Epiphany. We attended the 9:00 a.m. mass and we were blown away by the number of young families there. The antics and noises from our two rambunctious boys blended right in. After mass, a woman approached us, commented on what a beautiful family we had and offered her rosary devotional book for mothers to our family. Between this lovely gesture and the feeling of “home” we had while in the church, we knew we had to learn more about Epiphany Parish and School. We set up a tour and we were amazed by all the positive changes that had occurred since I attended 15 years prior. We loved the facilities, the commitment to academic excellence and the deep religious roots within the school. Shortly thereafter, we decided to join the parish and enroll Gabe in the preschool.

We are going on five years now at Epiphany Parish and School. Our family has grown in ways we never anticipated. Epiphany has offered us many ways to deepen our faith and engage with the school and church community. We have fostered deep relationships with great families, and we genuinely look forward to our Epiphany experience every week!
