CCD Registration is now open for the 2023-24 year.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I, Aggie Hatch, am excited to introduce myself as the new CCD Coordinator for Epiphany. I will be under the mentorship of Kara Esker, as I grow and learn this year. This has been on my heart for the past two years, and I believe that this is the way God wants me to continue to serve him and better live my Catholic faith.

My family and I moved to Normal, IL twenty-one years ago and immediately joined the parish. We moved here to work at Illinois State University. My husband, now retired, was a professor of Middle-Level Education. I teach kindergarten at Thomas Metcalf School. My three children attended CCD and Life Teen. For many years I taught various grades of CCD as they were growing up.

My husband and I stay active at Epiphany. You may see us at Mass on Friday mornings and on Sundays. My husband is a lector, and I am a Eucharistic Minister. We enjoy growing in our faith through small group bible studies, late-night adoration hours, and are currently loving the Catechism in a Year with Fr. Mike. It is my hope that I can help you with the faith formation of your children so that they continue to deepen their relationship with God and love our rich Catholic faith.

CCD registration for 2023-2024 is now open.

CCD calendar

I want to welcome you to the Epiphany CCD Religious Education program! While you are the primary faith formators of your children, we look forward to walking with them and you on their faith journey. Registration information and materials for the 2023-2024 religious education year are now available.

Completed forms and full payment should be turned in by July 30th to avoid incurring a $35 late fee. Return to the parish office by mail, delivery during office hours, or the Sunday collection basket.

 Classes

Classes will run from 6:30-7:30 pm on Wednesdays each week, beginning September 6th, 2023, and ending May 1st, 2024. Classes are held in the Epiphany School buildings. CCD typically begins in First Grade, when students are enrolled in the Year 1 First Communion class. CCD typically ends in Eighth Grade, when students are enrolled in the Year 2 Confirmation class. After Confirmation, all are encouraged and invited to begin attending High School Youth Group on Sunday evenings as a way to continue their faith formation and find community in their church.

Sacrament Preparation and Requirements

  • Diocesan policy requires students to have two (2) consecutive years of preparation prior to receiving sacraments of Reconciliation, Communion, and Confirmation. Sacraments are conferred in Year 2.

  • Confirmation: The date for Confirmation is set by the bishop’s office. We will communicate the date when available.

  • First Reconciliation and First Communion: First Reconciliation is Wednesday, April 17th, during CCD class. First Communion Mass is Sunday, April 28th at 2 pm.

 Communication

We will communicate upcoming events and class cancellations to registered CCD families using Flocknote: Flocknote is an email and text messaging tool Epiphany has adopted for parishioners to receive and reply directly to emails or text messages from CCD and other parish ministries. Messages sent through Flocknote go directly to your email inbox. Please add mail@flocknote.com to your contact list and update your spam settings to avoid missing any communications.

Blessings always,

Aggie Hatch CCD Coordinator, Epiphany Catholic Church
